Took Evan downtown at the very last minute today to go to the Trick or Treat with the Greeks again this year but by the time we got down there at 6:45 this evening they were packing everything up. So much for 5:30-8:30 like their Calendar of Events says... slacker sorority girls!
Anyway, met up with the Harmons for dinner at Wild Wing once we realized it was over - was fun too. Spurrier was there doing his call in show and Evan got to see Cocky and seemed excited about it too, not scared, so that's good!
Also hardwired in a radar detector in the Camaro tonight and whoever designed the interior fuse panel in those things should be fired. Too tight, only two buried fuses are tied into the ignition, the rest are hot all the time - frustrating how long that took for something so simple.
Also, speaking of the new car - who says it's not a family vehicle!?
Seriously though, the G6 had its share of issues lately I didn't feel like repairing and our credit union was offering 1.99% - a combination that led to us trading in the 6 for this car since the 6 had become my daily driver and I'd much rather be driving this Camaro instead.
Just glad I'm 34 and not 24 years old or I'd probably kill myself in this car - 400 HP and 410 foot lbs. of torque makes it a blast to drive. But GM really did a lot of other stuff right with this car too. Little things like air recycle remembering it's previous setting. Both windows are auto up and auto down. You can customize remote start to enable the heated leather seats. You can customize the unlock button to do both doors with one push. It has not only a 3.5mm aux port for music devices it has a USB port that can scan a flash drive for up to 10,000 .mp3 or .wma files and play those.
Most surprising thing about buying this car though was that my auto insurance ended up going down in cost. No complaints here.
We also took Evan to Harmon's Tree Farm again this year to pick out a pumpkin. He was just a little more active this year, running around playing with all the orange "balls" as he called the pumpkins.
And just for fun, here's a shot of him last year - just a chunky lump of baby then compared to now - he is definitely losing his baby features and looking more and more like a kid lately.
Finished my first race today, the Ray Tanner Home Run 5K. Was really a lot of fun. Unfortunately I didn't meet either of my two inital goals, I suppose I could cop out and use the whole "spine surgery a little less than 3 weeks ago" excuse, haha. That month lost for training I think hurt some.
Anyway, that leaves the goals of < 30 minutes and not stopping at all while running for the next race, right? Official times aren't up, but I was right around 33 minutes which isn't terrible but isn't great either.
Still, the experience and the race itself was a lot of fun. The course was nice - it went over both the Blossom St. and Gervais St. bridges in downtown and finished in the new baseball stadium by coming in left field and running down the 3rd base line to cross home plate for the finish.
Bottom line though it is amazing to go from "will I walk again?" a couple weeks ago to running a 5K today - I really do feel extremely fortunate with how well this surgery and recovery has went!
