And actually things have been going very well since the surgery. I've told everyone it's creepy and amazing all at once what they were able to do. I had full mobility and felt great right out of the recovery room when they pushed me back to my room.
Sense of humor was even kicking already cause when the nurse wheeled me in where Christina and her folks were waiting she laughed and said "You remember these people, right?" and I completely straight-faced widened my eyes and shook my head quickly back and forth no. You should have seen Christina's eyes - hook line and sinker, haha. Just laughed and said of course I remember them.
Ended up leaving a little before 6pm to head home that same day. Now the two days since have been a little more tender as stuff heals up. General stiffness and soreness in my neck front and back and it is a bit tender at the incision site still. The residual arm nerve pain is what really caught my attention the last two days, but advil has treated that extremely well and they've told me that's normal and should subside within a week or so.
But, the two days before surgery I couldn't get out of bed for more than 10 seconds without shooting pain and a few hours after sugery I could have walked out of the hospital.
Well, only made it to age 34 before my first surgery. Scheduled to go in Monday morning for a cervical disc replacement:
Been in pretty good pain at times since last Friday morning, couldn't even stand up or sit for two days, some improvement but nerves are just screaming down my right arm and there's some numbness in my thumb and index finger too.
It's that and the fact that I have an abnormal narrowing of the spinal column that made it so that the protruding disc is pressing up against and flattening the spinal cord causing the pain.
So I get a fancy disc replacement instead of the standard fusion-bone technology:
