So, today is my first well day back to work in a while. Not to say I haven't worked while sick since October 4th though. Been in and out of the office and a lot of working from home too.
Had a great weekend though. Brian and Tasha came to visit for the weekend and see Evan and got in Friday night. They watched him on Saturday so Christina and I were able to go to a tailgate and football game together for the first time this year - and it was a win over Vandy. Ugly win, but a win nonetheless. Sunday my brother and I met Tim and Dave for a round of golf too. I even let Brian win for his Birthday, I'm that nice.
Just glad to be well again for the most part, the antibiotics they put me on last Thursday really helped. Here's hoping we all stay well for a while now.
Thankfully Evan's fever was short lived, by that evening he was better. Still had to stay home Friday and Christina's still sick, but it's not as bad overall here as it was Thursday afternoon.
Today was a good day of getting caught up on things... we cleaned up a bit around the house, I FINALLY mowed (seriously it's been over 3 weeks between the rain and the illness), and I went through the memory cards on the cameras. Found some old photos from when Evan was two months old so I re-organized the Pbase site some to include those at the beginning of the newest gallery there for him.
Also, downloaded a few of the videos from the two cameras and spliced them together in movie maker - a compliation of videos from around 3 months old or so:
As always you can click the title of the video in the window to go to Vimeo's website to view the larger sized copy instead of the small one I embed in the blog here.
I'm still fighting the 9 day cold I got from Evan the first time. Christina was out of work today with bad sinuses and congestion. And Evan is getting sick again and had a 101 fever when we got him home from daycare today.
It's finally happening - what... 3.5 years after Robert started being out of the office regularly and eventually I ended up with the IT Director position... my slot is being replaced.
Listing for our replacing that position should go up on USC's HR website tomorrow or Friday - everything is approved and signed. It's a non-entry level position, an IRC 2 instead of IRC 1 position, though we could only get it listed at $44,208 despite being required to list it as a bachelor's degree and 6 years of experience. So, I'm a little concerned about how good of candidates we'll end up getting at that pay, but I couldn't go much higher than that probably. Anything over $50K as a State of SC employee and you end up on those salary databases the local news folks publish online so it could upset existing staff (?).
Anyway, hopefully we'll get a few good ones to interview and see if any of them will work out. The way the economy is, who knows. Regardless of who we get in, it will really help our group try to stay caught up finally - it's been a while.
Gamecocks beat Kentucky yesterday to go 5-1 on the season. Not getting too excited yet though, been here, seen this.... we'll see if we finish the season off right this year or not. The next game is against #3 Alabama and not too far off is #1 Florida, so it could get ugly.
Didn't go the game, still not feeling that great. Can't believe it's taken me so long to kick this cold. Feeling a little better last night and this morning, so at least I won't be out of work anymore next week. And Evan didn't catch it back, so that's good.
Speaking of the offspring, he's learned how to roll over. Here's a quick video of his new trick:
This cold sucks... still hasn't let go really. Gotta go to work tomorrow though, can't really be out for 4 days, even if I can do a lot of stuff remotely.
At least Evan started sleeping well again last night. Since he had the cold his schedule has just been off. Partially our fault too - we were just getting annoyed at him spitting out his pacifier at night and waking up... you know, instead of assuming something might actually be wrong. We were lulled into a false sense of hope when he had that week of sleeping from 8pm-6am or so. Thought he could do that any ole time.
Well, turns out he was spitting out his pacifier because he was hungry. He wasn't getting a late bottle (11pm-12am) because we weren't waking him up for it. So he got a bottle around 9pm and we thought he'd be good until 6am like before. Around 3:30am each morning he all but told us we were wrong.
So now he's getting an 11pm bottle even if I have to wake him up for it - and it worked last night... 11:30pm-6:45am. That's more like it!
Also, I've been slack on the pictures apparently because I'm hearing it from a few different folks... really need to get better about it, he's only this age once after all. So, here's a new gallery I just started of photos of him during his 3rd month:
And of course now I have his cold - awesome. Stayed home today because my sinuses were bothering me and ended up crashing for 5.5 hours.
And thanks to the 100.1 fever apparently I'm throwing off some good heat because the cat was glued to me the whole time.
Christina thinks she's got it too - should be even more fun taking care of Evan while sick. Can't wait.
At least I was feeling better this last Saturday - enough to go to the game that is, though even then I could tell something was up. It was a fun game in the second half like the FAU game this year - just wish we could jump on an opponent early and put them away sooner. Still, we're 4-1 and ranked #25 now so the season's off to a good start. Here's hoping we finish this season like we've been finishing games so far. It's been a while since we've had a strong end to a season.
