Added some more photos to the last gallery from this weekend. Our pool is adults only until noon so we couldn't bring Anna there. Set up the sprinkler in the front yard instead and she loved it!
The new photos start on page 3 of that gallery. The first few with the more in focus background were shot with the kit lens that comes with that new camera - the last few where the background is more blurred is the bigger 70-200mm zoom lens at f/2.8. Amazing the difference in quality.
We invited Nicki and Anna to Columbia this weekend. Anna's birthday is in a couple days, so we went out on the lake this afternoon because it was great weather and we had a little birthday party for her over at Tim and Krist's place.
Also Christina's doctor's appointment yesterday went well, she's 50% effaced an a little under 1cm dialated. Basically the doctor told her it could be 48 hours or 4 weeks - in other words, that's no indicator. Obviously it's more likely the latter than the prior, though I have to say it's a fun (scary!) thought that we could have a kid at really any point now.
Rainy Memorial Day weekend here. And it's coming to a close for both of us, because like each and every Memorial Day, we have to work tomorrow. I think it's still worth having all that time off between Christmas and New Years, but this is the vacation day I miss the most. Hopefully we'll be let out early tomorrow, who knows.
Although it's not like we'd have a cookout or be out on the lake anyway, supposed to rain again tomorrow. I shouldn't grin when I see that, but since I have to work... well...
Anyway, it was nice Friday evening so Christina and I went to the pool in our neighborhood to float for a while. Water's still pretty cool, but it wasn't too bad. Going to try to go more evenings since it's nice for Christina to float for a while - her hips have been hurting at the joints for a few weeks now.
Also, yesterday was fun too - bought a new camera body... you know, cause of the baby.
It's still a Canon Rebel series digital SLR - the new T1i model. And one thing it does (okay, not exceptionally, it's still more a still camera) is HD video. The depth of focus (background blur) on it with good lenses like I have is exceptional, but it doesn't really autofocus like a traditional camcorder. However, still > video, so I don't really care - it's just nice to be able to capture video clips here and there sometimes.
First one I put up on Vimeo (like YouTube only better for high def video) is one of Evan kicking. He's been rolling around a lot lately, I think he's trying to find his way out because every once in a while he'll mess with Christina's belly button like he's found the weak point.

He's such a ham, hopefully Evan will be even close to as funny and love the camera like Carson does because he's certainly going to see the front end of it pretty frequently.
Scary - back to back days with posts on my blog...
We went over to Tim and Kristi's today for Tyler's 3rd birthday party. Had a good time and Tyler was having a blast. Took some cute photos, just wish the one with the candles still lit wasn't blurry - the very next one wasn't of course, but it was too late.
Hah - facebook continues to kill my blog. Nah, just been too lazy lately to post.
Things have been rolling along... all major projects are over at work and mainly I'm just making up a list of the minor projects that have been put off and need to get sorted out before I take time off when Evan arrives. Other than that, just normal day-to-day stuff thankfully.
We did miss the big School picnic at the lake this year because Christina was sick last weekend. She's mostly over it now, but after spending a couple hours cleaning up the boat the Thursday before last (hate SC pollen) it would have been nice to go to the picnic by sea so to speak.
Christina's going along pretty well for the most part. Just starting to get to the stage where she's tired of being pregnant though. Tendons are sore, sleeping is getting less frequent and more interrupted... the usual things. As of the ultrasound at 28 weeks Evan was breeched so they'll keep checking that to make sure he flips himself head down in the next few weeks. Still hard to believe it's getting so close. Though both of us are now saying we're ready for him to be here, it's definitely getting exciting.
Today has been a nice relaxing day after hectic weeks for both of us. Doing spring cleaning, trying to get the house in order so we don't have to worry about it over the coming weeks as we get closer to the baby being here.
One of the things I did was take the cat's beds that are normally on our dresser in our bedroom and vacuum and clean them really well. The only reason I mention such a mundane thing here is that apparently they couldn't wait to have them back and both found a blanket we had on placed on the dining room table:
