Ugh, 12:30 games suck.

Hate that not only do we have to be up this early, but that Christina doesn't even get to sleep in on her birthday.

Hope it ends up being a good game today and makes it all worth it.

We got steamrolled by LSU this weekend - they are definitely the class of the SEC this season. Sad that 28-16 is considered close for LSU. We started off winning 7-0 and we outscored them in the 4th quarter 9-0, but the middle of the game was all LSU - they're a very good team. I hope we get a shot at revenge on December 1st in the SEC Championship game in Atlanta.

The rest of our weekend was pretty good though. Christina got some bday money so she had to go shopping... got some new clothes and a pair of boots. For dinner yesterday we picked up subs and went and cruised the lake until the sun set. The boat ran very, very well too... hard to believe since it's been sitting there for a month or so not running since we haven't had time to go out on the lake lately. Didn't stall at all really... and we spent a lot of the evening going slow through different coves at near idle speed.

This week can't go by quick enough though. This weekend is Christina's birthday and our next home game against Mississippi State. It's a 12:30pm kickoff... those 8am tailgates hurt. Next week I was already taking off Thursday and Friday since our game against Kentucky is a Thursday night game on ESPN (10/4). However, since I'm already taking off two days and have a good amount of leave time built up, I may take that whole week off work. Just depends on how this week goes and if I can knock out as many things as possible before Friday I suppose.

Well, it took them a while to approve my MRI, so I didn't have it until yesterday after work. No results yet, but after running around at work today and at the gym (we don't do legs, just upper body really) and mowing the lawn when I got home, it's hurting pretty good tonight.

Not a lot else going on... the game last Saturday was decent. Our passing offense wasn't great, but the rushing offense and our defense looked great. This coming Saturday at 3:30pm on CBS is our game at LSU. Probably the #1 team in the nation, though they're only ranked #2 thanks to pre-season polls putting Southern Cal at #1 already. To say this weekend's game will be challenging is an understatement. LSU is quite good and HARD to beat at home.

My back is feeling a bit better today, though it's still sore and stiff from yesterday. Had my appointment for my ankle this afternoon and she said since I already waited too long (7 months or so) she wasn't going to make me wait any longer and that I needed to get an MRI for it. Said she'd set it up for today in fact - that is until my insurance decided to nix that plan and told her that I had to do the 800mg ibuprofen and a brace for two days before they'll pay for the MRI. Like two days is going to make everything better if it hasn't gotten better on its own in 7 months.

Anyway, my MRI is tenatively scheduled for Thursday night unless this miracle brace fixes everything - ha.

How 'bout them Gamecocks!

What an ugly game and ugly win last Saturday night, but it's a good win nonetheless. Highest ranked SEC road win ever for Carolina. Though the numbers are deceiving - Georgia wasn't THAT good.

We had a handful of people over for the game, so it was a lot of fun watching it. Made way too much food since Christina and I made the mistake of hitting Sam's Club while we were hungry. Christina and I also decided to go down to the stadium where folks were greeting the team when they got back in town that night. They didn't get in until 1:35am, but it was a lot of fun hanging out... some people next to us had a sound system and were playing fight songs and other music. Pretty good crowd down there too. I took some videos with our new point-and-shoot camera, if I ever get around to downloading them I'll see if I can post small clips.

Anyway, it's nice being 2-0 and 1-0 in the SEC now. We control our own destiny in the SEC East at this point and honestly there's only one team, LSU, on our schedule that I think would be a near impossible team to beat.

However, South Carolina State is next week, so that's the only game that matters right now. Should be an easy win, but hopefully the team won't play down to SC State's talent.

Made a stupid mistake in the gym tonight. Had a pretty good workout going and Dave and I left shrugs for last. We do those with a machine that you hang free weights on instead of a simple bar and instead of squatting down to the weight on my 4th (and last) set, for some reason I bent over at the waist to lift it... and decided to basically clean jerk it up at the same time. Yeah, that was a mistake - my entire back locked up pretty good immediately. Still locked up and hurting right now - wondered at one point if I could even get to the truck outside the gym.

But, I took 3 Advil when I got home, ran a very hot bath to soak it, hit it with hot water again in the shower, and then later took one of my muscle relaxers. Hopefully it'll loosen up tonight. Between the ankle already hurting and now tweaking my back, it's been rough lately - not a lot of fun getting older.

Also, on a complete side note, I hate the NFL. I'm doing a $5/week pick 'em with 18 people, $50 first prize, winner take all each week. Excess goes into a pot for a final 1st, 2nd, and last place prize after 18 weeks. Anyway, I cruised through college games this week, 80% correct. I'm 60% in the NFL games, 3/5 so far. If San Fran wins tonight by at least 4 points I'll be 4/6, but the NFL games cost me winning this week. I beat everyone in college games, but one girl made up for it with a perfect NFL run so far to win the week. It's frustrating picking NFL because anyone can win and all the spreads are 3.5 points. Oh well, even winning one week pays for over half the season of playing, I'm sure I'll get one eventually.

Man, long time no posts...

Things are as busy as ever. So busy at work that on the nights we don't have anything going on I don't feel like doing much else. Too many hassles in life sometimes, ya know?

The beer tasting we went to last week was actually a beer dinner like they said. Turned out to be a 5-course dinner with a beer sample and story about it with each course. Some interesting beers - some good, some not so good. The food was all right, but too fancy really, and a couple courses had onions in them in one way or another. It was a bigger event than the beer tasting we went to a couple years ago, but the food and beer wasn't as good this time.

Saturday's tailgate for the first game was great - the rain held off thankfully even though every forecast was calling for us to get drenched. It was painfully humid, but I'll take that over a downpour any day. Had a couple of high def TVs set up at the tailgate, so rain isn't a good thing. Then again, the TVs weren't a good thing really last week come to think about it - it meant I got to watch that embarassing "football game" Michigan played against App State. What a joke... but, at least it means Lloyd Carr is one step closer to being gone I guess.

The game itself was okay last week - we should have looked better against a team like Lousiana Lafayette, but a win is a win I suppose. We get our starting QB back this game, so hopefully our trip to Athens to play Georgia tonight will be a win.

I also set up an appointment finally to go to the doctor to look at my ankle. Did something to it back in February probably when playing basketball. Didn't hurt that day, but it hurt pretty good the next morning. Slowly it's gotten better and worse over the last 7 months, but never really bad until the last couple days. Something running from behind my ankle halfway up my calf is strained and/or torn because if it were just a minor strain it would be better by now. It'll be interesting to see what they say - hopefully they'll skip the "take two advil every 4 hours and wear this brace" step and instead get it xray'd or have an MRI for it or something.

Anyway, I'm trying to stay off it as much as possible right now... speaking of which, it's about time for Christina to bring me another drink.

Go Cocks, beat Georgia!
