Oh the good ole days when I had time to actually work on photos or update my blog occasionally.
We're currently at a pace we've never been up to before since I started in Public Health 3 years ago. 22.29 emails/day.
Oh well... it's all being taken in stride and we're actually doing pretty well all things considering. Knocking out lots of the issues fairly quickly.
Other than work, not a lot is going on. Christina had fun on her trip to Dallas. Glad to have her return though... it was weird going a whole week without her around.
Haven't had much of a chance to take any pictures lately either. Only shot I've even gotten lately was for a challenge on a Panasonic (my brand of camera) forum I'm on. The theme was 'chaos' or 'mayhem', so I took this shot:
I swear that everyone at USC sits around in December and says "Eh... I think I'll wait until after the holidays to bother Computer Support about (insert issue here)..."
132 support requests in 7 working days (5th - 13th). Almost 19 emails a day. Fun stuff.
Anyway... besides being slammed at work... what else is going on...
I put in our new dishwasher last night. Pretty frustrating. I figured there'd be a plug back there, a water line, and a drain... unhook everything, move the new one in and plug everything back in and it's done.
Well, not quite. South Carolina lets you direct wire dishwashers (or did in 1996 when the house was built), so there was no plug. No big deal, just stole the wire nuts from the other dishwasher. Then the dishwasher has the water intake threaded for a 90 degree elbow... that's not included. Went to Lowe's twice and got a grand total of 3 elbows. They either fit the dishwasher but not the water supply line or visa versa. Or they fit neither.
Needless to say, I ended up just stealing the one off the old dishwasher. Common theme, eh? At least the existing drain line was fine.. hooked that up without a problem. I won't even get into the part where I realized that there were three shutoff valves under the sink and that the dishwasher water supply line is not merely spliced off the sink's hot water supply...... heh. We have good water pressure by the way.
Anyway, it's all hooked up and working and nothing blew up. But they certainly could make it a bit easier to install them. As for the dishwasher itself it's pretty nice. Not quite as quiet as we had hoped, but a big improvement. Lining the three walls around the dishwasher with some dynamat material would help that out though. The rest of it is great though... huge full sized tub area and it cleaned some pretty nasty pots and pans really well last night. Success!
Next project will probably be shelving in the gameroom. I'm just looking around right now finding the best design to go with for floating shelves. Found some good plans online and in a couple books at Barnes and Noble. I suppose working on the shelves will give me something to do while Christina's out of town... keep me out of trouble!
She's leaving for Dallas on Monday and gets back Thursday night. Going to visit her friend Christy and help her pick out a wedding dress. Christy and Bruce are getting married this fall... October sometime. The trip out there will be nice having never been to Texas, but it's a weekend of a home football game! Fall weddings should be outlawed!
