I put the first few pictures I have up on Pbase also... larger copies there than these posted on the blog.

A couple more pictures of Sol. Plus I replaced that first picture in the previous post... the white balance on it was awful... looked really yellow. Might have to Ctrl-F5 in your browser to force a complete refresh.

Let me introduce the newest member of our family, Sol:

Sol was a stray at one of our neighbor's houses. Not sure where he's from, but he came to see us at our yard sale Saturday. We brought him back over and she told us that it wasn't her cat... she was just letting him in the garage at night, that's all. She was going to bring him to the Humane Society since she didn't want a cat and had allergies. So, rather than let him be put down, I took him in today and brought him to the vet. The price of finding a stray? $97 and change... but, it's only money. In fact, his next appointment is in three weeks and with the neuter will be another $128.

The guy is a friendly little cat too! All purrs... He tested negative for feline leukemia and they ran him through the first battery of shots and Revolution and a pill to kill any possible fleas on him. Gave him a decent bill of health and said he was safe for our cats. His right eye might have a bit of an infection, but we got something we put in his eye a couple times a day for it.

He's about 10 weeks old, born sometime around my birthday. The vet put it down as 6-15-2005. He's orange like the sun (we won't hold that against him) and he was born near the solstice, so I named him Sol.

We'll see how the introduction over the next couple of weeks with Cotton and Ashley goes... I hope it ends up all right... we'd like to keep him.

The effort that went into staging everything last night and tagging it and then getting up early this morning and setting everything up was not worth the $22 we ended up making.

So far not so good. Only two people have stopped by in nearly an hour and a half this morning. Guess this is the wrong time of the year for yard sales.

The Salvation Army is going to make out pretty well this afternoon if this pace keeps up.

A beautiful day here today.

Normally I wouldn't post something just to say that, but it's currently 82 degrees with mostly sunny skies. This morning on the drive in a sign said it was 68 degrees and when we went outside to the car at 7:30am it a bit lower than that in the shade of the house. An actual chill to the air... definitely a welcome change!

I hope we get a repeat performance for Carolina's first game next Thursday... would make the tailgate quite nice.

Christina and I went to a scrimmage the team had at the stadium this afternoon. It was way too hot, but it was still nice going to see some football.

I took a few shots, picked 3 pages worth, and uploaded them tonight. Some turned out all right, but with the cheap zoom lens I have they're not as good as they could be with better gear.

We're cat sitting.

Muschie is here for the weekend while Christina's parents head further North. Just for a few days and we've already converted her to the light side of the Force...

Smart kitty...

Our wonderful expensive new A/C unit we just got installed in the house sprung a leak.

Up in the attic... drain pan doesn't cover the duct work? Never a problem before...

A few of us from the Gamecock message boards (notice the watermark on the images below) got together for happy hour after work Wednesday night before one of Carolina's football practices. The team started practices last Monday. They practice nightly from 8pm-10pm because of the heat here lately.

One of the guys has the Canon 20D (the model of digital SLR just above my Canon) and brought it with a nice 70-200mm Canon pro series lens. He didn't want to risk shooting that night because cameras technically aren't allowed at these practices and he has media credentials he doesn't want to lose. So, I got to shoot with his $2,800 camera/lens combo!

Unfortunately, on some of the action shots I chose a setting that made for too slow of a shutter speed to freeze the action, hence the blur in some of the shots. Plus, we weren't allowed that close to the players, so many of these are at full zoom.

Two girls that were there watching the practice (I didn't notice how funny the one girl's shirt ended up being until seeing the picture later):

Not a double-shot, it's the twins on our team:

Took some early morning photos on campus today. Many of them were of new construction projects, so I didn't upload those to my Pbase photo site. Only the first four images are from this morning, the rest in this new gallery were taken sometime last Spring...
