So much going on!

Trying to finish up costume stuff for the party Saturday night, still have to finish the garage for Sunday night, we have the football game Saturday afternoon, softball last night, etc, etc... busy times. Only having work next week will be like a vacation.

As for the last softball game of the season last night it was okay. We were down by a few runs (6 or 7) when our pitcher and coach, Brian, took a shot off the front of his leg. It welted right up, turned purple, and he took off for ice. Well, we were only playing with 9 people since we were a guy short and you can't play with 8, so we had to forfeit when he left the game. No errors on my part last night... actually made a few good plays and good throws. Plus I hit a triple over the left fielder's head that went to the fence. Would have been an in the park home run if the girl in front of me was faster. Rounding second base I was 5-6 feet behind her... could have lapped her before we got to third, so I had to stop.

Anyway, it was a fun season I guess... lots of weird games though. I said I'd play next Spring if Melissa can get us in a Tuesday or Wednesday night league. Brian won't be coaching/organizing the team next time because they'll have a newborn at home about that time, so Melissa's going to take over.

Also, I had a photo win picture of the week on our local news station's website:

No prizes... oh well. I did win a prize ($20 gift certificate) for my football picks last weekend on this website that lets you pick for free and gives out prizes to the top 5 people. I came in 3rd.

I thought I would post up a sneak peek at this years Halloween setup. I didn't know if I was going to do anything for Halloween this year, but Christina was talking to our neighbor and she mentioned that the kids are already talking about the haunted house again. So, I guess I'm stuck doing this again. Of course I don't mind too much... it's a lot of fun and I know the kids will remember it when they grow up.

Anyway, here's some initial pictures of setting up the garage:

It's Brian's birthday today! Everyone wish him Happy Birthday! Yeah, umm... you'll get your card probably tomorrow... yes, I'm a slacker.

Bored at work so I thought I'd post some pictures from this weekend. Carolina had a JV scrimmage on Sunday versus Georgia Military Junior College. Our first and second team players didn't even dress out. Our team was just made up of our third string players and walkons. Click the picture below to get to the pictures:

Can you tell the softball season hasn't been going too well... almost no updates throughout the season.

A big reason for that is we've had a few forfeits and a Bye week recently. Feels like forever since we've played a game. Which is explains why I was a bit rusty last night throwing. Made a couple of really bad throws to first. Made a few really good ones too, but that doesn't excuse the errors that cost our team a couple runs.

We ended up losing by something like 17-7. We kept the game at 6-4 for a while, until they put up 11 runs in one inning. Thankfully I only cost us one of those runs on a throw that pulled the girl on first off the bag a little or they would have been out. Our outfield was the biggest problem. We were playing with 9 people instead of the usual 10 because we only had 4 girls and 5 guys show up. So we ened up with a lot of dropped balls in the outfield. So much so that I may volunteer to play centerfield next game instead of shortstop... we're playing the same team next week for our last game... a makeup game from a rainout when we were supposed to play them the first time.

Anyway, I did get to slide last night and ended up filthy, so it was a good night!

Well, the bedroom set showed up today and it looks great. Mostly assembled too, shows how used to boxed furniture we are, eh?

Anyway, onto the pictures:

Finally starting to feel better today. I've been sick since Sunday night. The usuals... fever, cough, aches and pains, sore throat, etc. Starting to break today though... only a small cough left.

Luckily, work hasn't been too crazy while I've been out these last three days. It'll be weird working a two-day week. That's if I don't take Friday afternoon off as originally planned. Last weekend Christina and I bought a bedroom set and it's being delivered on Friday between 9:30 and 1:30. I may just take Friday afternoon off instead of the whole day since I've been out so much this week already.

Below is a picture of the bedroom set from Rhodes' website... I'll most likely post picture of putting it all together and the final setup as well.

TGIFF. Thank God it's frickin' Friday.

Been another long week. Christina's back to work today for the first time in three days since she's been sick. However, it's on the way out... which is good because we both finally got a good night's sleep... no more coughing.

Just in time for the game tomorrow too. Our tailgating lot is open from 8am-8pm tomorrow because of the State Fair. But then the fair goes and does something asinine. They have a promotion each year where you get in for free with a ticket stub. Only this year that's only good from 9am-11am. What a crock. Don't they realize that people leaving a day game go to the fair that night and spend lots of money inside the fair? Oh well, their loss. We'll just go back to the tailgate to catch some of the afternoon/evening games on TV and have a couple more brats.

Man, what a long weekend. First off, Carolina beat down Alabama @ Alabama Saturday night. That makes them 4-1 on the season. We'll be favored in our next two games against Ole Miss and Kentucky, so hopefully we'll be 6-1 when Tennessee comes to town on the 30th. We had Matt, Misty, and Dave over for the game and it was a lot of fun.

The night before the game wasn't much fun though. Christina's car died Friday night when we tried to go home after working out. Turns out the battery had a cell leaking acid and it was no good. Because of the corrosion on the battery post the voltage was erratic and causing all sorts of odd electrical problems. A new battery fixed it. Until yesterday afternoon that is. When it wouldn't start for her at work when we were going to lunch. So we borrowed Misty's car since she is now working with Christina in her department and drove home to get my truck and some tools. I disconnected the battery and reconnected it and it started working. The battery posts screw into the side of the battery and the one was pretty corroded so I picked up a replacement and cleaned everything up yesterday afternoon. Working great now, but it was still a pain lately.

If I sound like I'm rambling it's probably the caffine. Christina and I bought a coffee maker this weekend... been wanting one for a while now. It's got a timer, so we set it for this morning. It's pretty nice... it can brew into the normal pot or into two Thermos mugs with handles.

Well, this weekend is Ole Miss like I mentioned earlier. Unfortunately, it's not on TV at all because Ole Miss is horrible this year. That makes it a 1pm kickoff time, which is horrible for tailgating. Especially since this is our Oktoberfest tailgate. Eating brats and potato salad and drinking beer at 9-10am will be pretty rough... though I think we'll manage. We're still waiting to find out how late after the game the lot will remain open. That'll determine whether we're eating before or after and whether we'll go check out the fair or not after the game. The fair here pretty much sucks... especially for a state fair, but everyone goes each year it seems. Maybe I'll find some fair type photographs to take.
