Man are my shoulders are killing me. Good workout today. It's a good thing too since we're missing Friday. We're leaving for Myrtle Beach tomorrow around 6pm after work. Should be a fun trip!
I'll make sure to post some pics from the trip when I return.
Also, since I won't probably be posting tomorrow, I'll give an early Happy Birthday shout out to my Mom.
Quite a lack of updates lately... sorry about that. Things have been busy here. Work is swamped, we're working out 3 nights a week now (M/W/F) and softball games on Thursdays.
Last night's game wasn't great though. We didn't have enough people show so we had to forfeit the game. They gave us a couple players and we scrimmaged it, but no one kept score... it was really more like a practice I guess. Good thing it wasn't a real game though because I didn't hit the ball worth a damn all night. Maybe we'll take it a little easier on the Wednesday night workouts during the season.
Classes started this week, so campus is nuts. Crawling with all the little ants who constantly get in the way and make traffic aggravating. But, they indirectly sign my paycheck with their tuition payments, so I can't complain too much. Columbia is definitely packed to capacity right now though. Can't wait until the Add/Drop date rolls around and the initial wave of students dropping out this year hits. Always calms things down.
Currently we have just shy of 20 support requests going on and they keep coming in faster than we can take care of them. Lunchtime is becoming an escape lately.
Another escape will be next weekend. I think we're going to go to Myrtle Beach with Matt, Misty, and another couple they know. Misty's Dad owns a condo on the beach there. They asked if we felt like going since there's a third bedroom when we were out with them last weekend. Should be fun, we haven't been to Myrtle Beach in a couple years and the first time we went in 2002 it was mid to late September and it was cold and the town was pretty dormant. Here's a picture from last weekend at Crocodile Rocks:
Well, we didn't get anything really from Hurricane Charley. We got a bit of rain last night and this morning, but it's pretty much over. I guess that's good, but I'm one of those people who know you're not supposed to get excited over something like a hurricane but still does anyway.
Christina's parents missed the brunt of the storm also when it came on shore just to their south. Some wind and some rain, but nothing serious we're told. That's good because it looked like the eye was heading directly for them for a while there.
I'm glad it's over though... the Weather Channel is boring. :)
Not sure what we're going to do with a weekend we thought was going to be a wash. I'm thinking about messing with the boat some and seeing if I can't get it running better, but I may decide to just give it a break for a weekend and choose not to deal with it right now.
Matt's girlfriend Misty's birthday is this Monday and when we were out bowling with them last Thursday she mentioned something about going out tonight to celebrate, so we may be doing that. Sounds good, we haven't gone out really in a long time now.
So tired. It's amazing how much a muscle relaxer can knock you out. I took one last night around 10 o'clock and I'm still abnormally tired.
The back is doing much better though.. has been for a while now. Small amount of lingering tightness once in a while... usually after one of our workouts... but for the most part it's feeling great. In fact, last night was the first muscle relaxer I've taken in about two weeks.
This last weekend was pretty nice. We took the boat out most of the day Saturday because the weather was so nice. The engine is fighting us even more though. I'm going to check the fuel filters and clean them out, maybe install an inline fuel filter, and run some higher octane fuel with some fuel stabilizer through it. When the engine was worked on the wrench used his own fuel supply and I called him yesterday and talked to him for a while about the problem and he said it was running great when he had it there. So, it runs great until we hook it up to our fuel supply. Easy to diagnose the problem on that one.
That said, having run fuel from that tank through the engine 8-9 times now so far has probably gummed up the carbs and plugs now that we paid $500 to get rebuilt in the first place. Matt mentioned that when his Dad's old boat was sitting for years it built up 1" worth of thick gunk at the bottom of the tank. Chances are we're fighting the same thing here... which means getting the tank professionally cleaned out or replaced completely which would involve getting at the tank underneath the floorboards. But if it is really bad in that tank and we don't do that, we're basically running that gunk through a great motor.
Or, simply installing an inline fuel filter and keeping that thing clean may very well work also. Or maybe just higher octane fuel than 87 might do the trick.
I'm certainly going to try the simple things first... starting with the existing fuel filters.
We had our first game of the new softball season tonight. Unfortunately, we lost 15-14, but it was a close, back-and-forth game.
I did pretty well... 2 singles, a triple, and a walk. That makes it a 3 for 3 night, right? I don't think a walk counts against your batting average... but I'll have to look that up. Made one low throw (ankle level) to the first baseman and she didn't come up with it. Not sure if that'd be an error on me, but I don't think so. All the other fielding plays were great, no other errors. Good start to the season, other than the loss.
The thing worse than the loss though was the heat. 96 degrees or so with a heat index over 100. Has to be the hottest game I've ever played in my life.
However, we're getting thunderstorms tonight as a wonderful cold front moves through. Our forecast for this weekend?
Needless to say, this will not be Boat Project Weekend. Unseasonably cool weather like that means we'll be out on the lake instead!
Okay, the Tagboard is back. Next time I'll just pay for a Zonkboard. Install on Demand spyware popups are a good sign of the kind of company you're dealing with.
I've removed my Tagboard yet again because they're popping up spyware installing ads. I'm pretty close to just coughing up the $10 for a Zonkboard instead.
Well, I finished with the dash and a couple other smaller things on the boat this afternoon. Around 24 to 25 hours total spent on these various things. It's been a long weekend!
