We tried a new parking area for the first time yesterday for the game. There was this area across the street "behind Budweiser" that was supposed to be free parking. Well, that's literally right behind Budweiser along their fence, not across the street in a row of 5 nice parking spots.
So, 10:30 after game we're walking back to the car to find out it's gone. Luckily, one of the people we were tailgating with from the forums gave us a ride back to our place. We drove out to pick up the car last night but he can't take a card at night, only cash... so, we picked up some of the more expensive stuff out of the car and we're going back to get it today. $75!
It wouldn't be so bad if the spots were marked reserved or something, but then again, common sense should have told me spots like that aren't going to be free that close to the stadium on gameday. Lesson learned I suppose.
Tivos are the coolest things. We got a Tivo through DirecTV and it's really handy. I see why people say once you have one you don't watch TV the same anymore. We just set up a Season Pass for shows we like and it goes out and records it whenever it comes on automatically. The standard Tivo is supposed to only store up to 35 hours of recorded TV, but I bought an upgrade/hacked kit that you add to it that increases it to 141 hours of recording time. Add the ability to Pause and Rewind live TV and it's a pretty handy little machine. The Tivo definitely gives you the ability to do whatever whenever you want without missing a show here or there.
I also added a couple of pictures in a gallery called Library of the new shelves going together. I'll add more pictures in the Our House gallery of each of the rooms eventually.
Well, there wasn't a game Saturday. On our side of the ball anyway. Not really sure how that many things went wrong but you could tell we just didn't show up ready to play.
First day back to work after 5 days off. I took off Thursday and Friday for the game last week and was out sick yesterday. I haven't done an update in almost 10 days so I figured that I had better write something.
We got a good bit done this weekend out of everything we had planned. First thing was the game which was a good one. A little bit of a nailbiter since we were up 27-7 and let them come back to 27-21. But, we held on and won and we're 4-2 now. But, have a great team in LSU coming to town this Satruday (7:45pm, ESPN2). We didn't get back from the Kentucky game last Thursday until almost 1am and I was up at 7:45am the next morning waiting on the DirecTV installers.
I was supposed to have a pair of upgrades done Friday morning between 8-12. One for HDTV and one for a Tivo. The guys that came out were pretty much lazy.. you could tell they didn't want to do the work. They didn't bring a big enough ladder for our house and the big ladder was "all the way across town on Shop Rd." Like Columbia is NY, NY or something. Anyway, I could tell they didn't want to do the install (which will probably be a 2-3 hour install involving 6 cable runs total, a new dish, the Tivo, and a new multiswitch outside the house). They rescheduled for this Friday the 17th but I can't get that day off work since I'll be the only one here so it's this Thursday the 16th now.
Saturday we had furniture for the library delivered. We bought two bookshelves and a computer desk with a hutch that all match... amazing, isn't it? It looks great... I took a couple pictures and I'll post one here when I get home tonight.
It's been a very long weekend and I haven't felt very well since Friday morning so it's making for an even longer Tuesday at work. bleh.
Talk about a pain in the just about everything. Sore today, most likely even more sore tomorrow.
It was definitely a two-day project at the blazing pace we set. We still have to do the quarter round, repaint the room and the closet, and rehang the closet doors. Oh, and move all the furniture back in the room too.
